Operation

        Soluciones Energéticas has designed and manufactures the Vélter D wind generators which have a nominal power of 500 W and can cover the energy requirements of a small/medium house. These wind generators have two mechanisms which serve to limit the speed: the tail configuration causes it to fold up when the wind speed is higher than the limit speed, thereby positioning the plane of the blades parallel to the wind direction. Until that moment, the weight of the blades and their balancing mechanism cause the blade tilt angle to increase at high wind speeds which means that the blade plane changes offering less wind resistance.

        In order to maximise the energy produced from the available wind it is necessary to install the wind generator on a tower at least six metres high; wind speed increases greatly with height. This tower should be anchored to the ground using a foundation block and a minimum of three guys at 120º. The wind generator is supplied dismounted in order to facilitate its installation on the tower.
